NATIONAL SKILLS SHORTAGES

The number of occupations with skills shortages has nearly doubled in the past year according to the National Skills Commission’s (NSC) 2022 Skills Priority List.

The top occupations in demand include:

 

  
Registered Nurses (9,266 vacancies)Software and Applications Programmers (7,841)
Aged and Disabled Carers (5,101)Construction Managers (4,984)
Child Carers (4,549)Motor Mechanics (4,316)
Retail Managers (4,244)Chefs (4,141)

Occupations generally requiring a Certificate III or IV – recorded the highest share of occupations in shortage, up from 38% to 46% over the year.

JOB SPOTLIGHT - HOW TO BECOME A COPYWRITER

Copywriters prepare and write content (known as copy) for the purpose of selling and advertising goods and brands on behalf of a business or company. This can include website content, social media posts, blogs, advertisements, slogans, and much more. They need to have an in-depth knowledge of the product or brand they’re writing about to know exactly what they’re selling.

 

If you have a way with words, great communication skills, and want a job that can be flexible and varied, becoming a Copywriter could be ideal.
