Around the College

New changes

There are some exciting changes coming up that offer some new opportunities for our community and the College.

Firstly, the Dunsborough campus will have a new Head of School from Term 4. Mr David Mullender has been appointed to lead the campus as they look to further developments in the near future.

For past few years, the College canteen at our Busselton campus has been managed by Mrs Alda Coetzee. Alda has recently announced that she will be retiring at the end of this year and we will have a farewell for Alda toward the end of the coming term. This provides an opening for someone in our community wanting to serve in the College in 2023. If you would like further information about what is involved in managing the canteen, please contact Administration for details.

The College is installing a new phone system which will introduce new functionality within the College as well as providing scope for future developments. There will be a new phone number coming as well, but for now the regular phone number still works!

There's a new College website coming too! After several of our existing website features crashed a little while ago, we have been examining options for a new website. The first version of the website will be launched soon, so watch out for details.

Along with the new Head of School at the Dunsborough campus, there are some Busselton staff changes coming too. Mr Will Meyer has been the Head of Secondary for the past three years and he has accepted a position in Albany to start next year. We will certainly miss the expertise that he brings to the College in this role. The position has been advertised and we look forward to a new chapter in our Secondary school with someone taking up that important position.

We also have some of our Secondary teachers looking to reduce their teaching load next year, leaving some vacancies in teaching Science, English and HASS. Mr Cameron, Mrs Wright and Mr Heyes plan to be taking fewer classes in 2023 so we are looking for some part time staff to take up the load in those areas. There are further details on our website under "employment".

There will be more information about these

Uniforms

Just a reminder that as we head into Term 4, that all students are required to wear their summer uniform. If you have any questions, please contact Administration.

Absent Notifications

If your child is away from school, please contact the College to provide a reason for the absence. You can send an email to attendance@cornerstone.wa.edu.au, use "Absences" tile on the Cornerstone app or call the Busselton campus on 9754 1144 or the Dunsborough campus on 9742 1133. If you email your child's teacher, please include the attendance email to make sure the absence is recorded and to avoid being sent a reminder message.

Notice of Absence form

Please note that if you are going to be away for more than 3 days you need to notify the College in advance and a Notice of Absence form will be sent to you to complete and return. The form is then considered by the Principal for approval, and you will be notified of the outcome.

Parent Connect Busselton

Thanks to those who made it to our Parent Connect meetings last term. We are so encouraged to see the great turn out and we are loving the parent support and involvement around the college. Thank you! It was a busy end to the term, but an exciting one! Being able to celebrate the God given talents of our students through art, music, sport and dance is a fantastic way to round out the term together as a community. There are many ways to get involved, so watch out for this term's Parent Connect dates.

Hair styles

Part of our uniform policy requires hair to be shorter than collar length or tied up. It is easy for the current mullet hair style to be in conflict with this requirement. In preparation for returning to school next week, please check your child's hair, particularly in the case of mullets, that the length is either shorter than collar length, or is able to be tied back.
