Carols by Candlelight 2020 is going ahead in an online format, it will be hosted online and streamed on Saturday 12th December at 6pm: www.banyule.vic.gov.au/Carols

We would love as much community engagement as possible in this virtual event and have two opportunities for you to get involved!

Paper Stars Stage Decoration

Each person to create their own paper star and write your name and Christmas wish on it
The paper stars can be any size or colour, and we will sew them together to form a star garland for the carols stage decoration

‘Our kid’s can too’ Program At Revitalize Exercise Physiology

About The Project

Over November the BSL NDIS team are recruiting families with children 0 -8yrs to take part in consultation sessions (group or individual). These sessions will be collecting families’ experience of the Pediatric health/early years service system to feed into a local project around children with disability/developmental delay run by the Better Health North East Melbourne consortium. The project aims to evolve an integrated, place-based model of care to ensure that by age 5, children with disability/developmental delay are receiving the right care; at the right time; in the right place to optimise their school readiness in the Banyule, Nillumbik and Darebin areas. Brotherhood of St Laurence NDIS services team have committed to ensuring that we capture family voice to inform the developing model.

Community Conversations Consultation

Consultations will be happening in focus groups and individually and participating parents/carers will receive a $40 shopping voucher. We are happy to use interpreters.

YOUNG CARERS SELF-CARE PACKS

Young carers are people up to 25 years of age who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend with a disability, a physical or mental illness, a substance dependency, or who is aged.

Banyule Youth Services plan to reach out to Banyule’s young carers in mid-November to offer them a self-care pack full of goodies and information on further supports. Locating young carers is sometimes tricky as young people don’t always self identify as a young carer.

If you know a young carer, please get in touch with Naomi Simmonds in Youth Services by November 12 with a name, age, address and email so that we can reach out to them. Naomi.simmonds@banyule.vic.gov.au or 0422 560 109.

WELLBEING OF YOUR STUDENTS – WE CAN HELP

Young people aged 12-25, their families and schools/agencies supporting young people can connect with our youth team for information/support.

We can provide support to young people via text, Facebook messenger, phone call or video chat. Schools, young people or families can request support in a way that suits them by completing the simple form found here

BEING WELL –WEEKLY WELLBEING PROGRAM

“Being Well” is a wellbeing focused weekly online group for young people ages 12 – 25 years.

Young people can come to one session OR all of them - whichever interests them.

Sessions include- Zen your bedroom space, Food & Mood, Using art to practise mindfulness, bullet journaling and more.

INCART

Our IncArt program is for young people aged 12 – 25 years of all artistic skill levels to meet, socialise and express them self through art. This term the crew are creating puppets to animate with the result being screened at Livefest.

Banyule Youth Services have developed a series of online FREE schools workshops that have been created or recently updated after feedback from young people and schools. They include;

Gender equality – Learn what it is and how it is helpful for everybody
Media Literacy - supports young people to develop media literacy, and an understanding the difference between facts, opinions and analysis.
Music Vibes – Learn how Music can improve your mood
Art vibes – How you can use Art as a form of mindfulness
Youth work 101 (for teachers) – Understanding adolescence and using strength based frameworks to support young people

All workshops are interactive, available for VIRTUAL DELIVERY and most include additional resources. More information can be found here

Facilitated by experienced youth workers, each workshop is about 1 hour in length and they are a great fit for well-being groups, personal development or health/mental health classes or those focused on life skills.

Unified Sports

December 3rd was International Day of People with Disability and on this day Eltham Wildcats and Melbourne Inner East, Special Olympics Region proudly launched a new and exciting program called Unified Basketball.

Unified is an iconic program that promotes and creates social inclusion between individuals with and without intellectual disabilities through sport.

Uniform Shop

New arrangements have been made to the running of the uniform shop in light of the current restrictions in place at Concord School. The shop will continue to operate throughout the term however we will only be taking orders via phone or form.

Please see the uniform order forms below, which can be sent into the office with your child or via school emails concord.sch@education.vic.gov.au

Alternatively, please feel free to contact the Bundoora Campus Office to place the order over the phone on 9467 3972. All orders will be sent home with your child. If there are any issues with the order such as sizing we will be happy to provide an exchange.
