11 March Welcome drinks for new BPS families, 7.30 pm at Half Moon Hotel
12 March Meet Emma and Jan at Grounds Cafe at 8.45 am

Calling all new families to BPS this year - and to those who arrived in 2020 but missed out on the usual welcome social events!

Please join us for welcome drinks on Thursday 11 March from 7.30pm at the Half Moon Hotel on Church Street. Everyone is welcome, so even if you have been at the school for years but fancy coming along for a social event and to welcome our new families, then please join us. Hope to see many new and old faces there.

In addition, as new PFC co-leads we would love to meet as many parents and friends, new and old, as we can. Please join us for a coffee and a chat at Grounds Cafe on Friday 12th March any time between 8.45am and 9.30am. We’ll supply the biscuits!

Junior School Council recipients

Last Friday our grade 3-5 Junior School Council members were presented their badges in our whole school assembly. Please click here to view the video of them receiving their badges. Grade 6 JSC reps will be presented theirs at the Leadership assembly. Congratulations to our successful candidates, and well done also to all the other students who showed they were risk takers, by agreeing to put their hands up and go through the process of selection.

School Council Membership 2021

To the BPS community,

I am delighted to inform you that Michelle Gibson, Melissa Mohan and Clint Miller will serve as new members of our school council for the next two years. In addition, both Geraldine De Fina and Garrick Rollason will serve for another two year term on school council. Given the number of nominations received matched the number of vacancies on council, there was no need to conduct a community ballot this year. Congratulations to Michelle, Melissa, Clint, Geri and Garrick.

Our School Council looks forward to welcoming Michelle, Melissa and Clint and supporting their transition as we continue to work collaboratively in the best interest of students and their learning. We will welcome these new council members at our next school council meeting on Wednesday 24th March from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.

BPS parents, Jan Browne and Emma Oliver have volunteered to co-coordinate our PFC for the next two years. The PFC community role is a co-opted position also serving on school council. Thank you to both Jan and Emma.

I want to extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude to Clara Robertson who has served on council for the past four years. For three of these years, Clara held the position as School Council President. A huge thank you to Clara for the outstanding contributions she has made to Brighton Primary School.

I also want to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of Elaine Kwok, Alicia Magee and Danielle Johnston who have served on school council for the past two years. Elaine, Alicia and Danielle have also made outstanding contributions to our school, students and community. Our school community is indebted to all of you.
