Principal's Report

Hello Concord School Community

I am writing to either introduce myself if I haven’t met you before, or say hello once again if I have had the pleasure of communicating with you previously. My name is Jason Coningsby and I am the Principal of Concord School. In October 2018, I was requested by the Department of Education and Training to act in the role of Senior Education Improvement Leader within the Hume-Moreland area.

In this role, I oversee the performance and development of 22 Principals and schools and work with them to effectively implement DET policies and strategies. The acting position was initially for one term but it has now turned into almost two years. It is with great excitement that I return to Concord School next week. The position I have been working in has given me a detailed understanding of how effective (and less effective) schools operate and how the education department can support their work. I certainly intend to work with the school community to transfer my learnings.

I would like to take this opportunity to most sincerely thank those staff who have acted in leadership roles during my absence. In particular Kirrily Lamers and Colin Simpson who have acted as Principal and Sam Birrell and Bronwyn Hart who have acted as Assistant Principals. We have currently advertised the ‘Assistant Principal - Teaching and Learning’ position, previously held by Kirrily, as we seek to further stabilise the school leadership. From next week, Colin will return to his substantive ‘Assistant Principal – Student Wellbeing’ role. I look forward to meeting with you soon.
