Acting Principal's Report

Stage Four

Learning from home is a crucial part of the Victorian Government’s response to slowing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and to protect us all. This week we were again required to move to remote & flexible teaching and learning. I know this means another difficult time for our students, their families and school staff.

Unlike the first shutdown, this time we have had only a very short time to prepare and to manage these new more strict Government requirements. Our parents and families have been very understanding of the organisational difficulties during this first week and we thank you.

This is my last week as Acting Principal as Jason Coningsby returns on Monday. I have never before been in a leadership position during such an intense and extreme time. Thank you to all parents, carers and staff for your support and understanding of the challenges we have all faced in the past 1½ terms.

Let us hope we can soon return to Concord School and Melbourne as we know it.

New Building

We now have the Occupancy Permit for our beautiful new building. Law Architects and Lloyd Group (who constructed the building) have been fantastic throughout the project and everything has gone extremely well.

Understandably we have not been able to have an official opening but prior to the State of Disaster being announced, we were able to have a walk though and thank the architects and builders.

We can’t wait to fill it with students & staff and show it off to our school community.

Principal Award- Keely Purcell

Keely takes her role as School Captain very seriously. She has been responsible for her own learning, demonstrating a mature attitude to her school work and in her relationships with her peers. Keely did very well managing the challenges of the remote learning program and showed determination, posting work from the daily challenges, the VCAL grids and work from the Specialist tasks. Keely also regularly participated enthusiastically in WebEx class meetings. Once back at school Keely was instrumental in the formation of the Concord  Pride Group that was just introduced to our Secondary students when we have again entered Flexible and Remote Learning.

Well done, Keely – we’re proud of the growth you’ve made!
