Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Thanks to funding from the Sporting School's Program, this week our students began a series of athletics clinics from Athletics Australia’s IAAF Kids’ Athletics program.  The clinics, led by Steph, will continue over four sessions and will focus on teaching the fundamental movement patterns of running, jumping and throwing.  The activities are aligned to the Movement and Physical Activity strand of Health and Physical Education.

On Friday 1st April, our school will host the annual Upper Kiewa Cluster Athletics Carnival for students in Years 3-6.  To ensure the smooth running of events, volunteers are urgently required to assist with the running of events.  If you can assist, please email Joel or contact the office.

The 2022 School Council is now finalised and I would like to thank all returning and new members for their commitment to our school in giving their time to contribute to council.    I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks to our outgoing members: Steve Pask, Skye Delaney, Paul Murray, Monica Wurfel and Vicky Levesque for their outstanding contribution to council over their terms on School Council.  They have been an incredible support and will be greatly missed. For more information about the 2022 Council and upcoming meetings, please refer to the School Council page of this newsletter.

This week marks the end of the Prep's Day off and from next week Preps will attend school five days a week.  We understand that attending school full-time can be a big adjustment, particularly as we near the end of term, so please speak to Ellen if you feel your child is getting too tired, or needing a rest day.

Families are reminded that, inline with health advice for primary schools, masks are still required to be worn when entering buildings.

Your assistance in protecting our students and staff from illness is greatly appreciated.

A reminder that Rapid Antigen Test kits can be collected from the office in the morning, from 8.45am and 9.15am  or in the afternoon from 2.45 - 3.15pm.

Wanted: Expressions of interest from individuals who are suitably qualified or experienced in undertaking general maintenance works on a casual basis.  May suit a retiree or someone seeking occasional extra hours.  For more information, please contact the office on 57544354.

Families are asked to please remember to input student absences via the Compass portal.  If your child has any unexplained absences, please assist us by updating these as soon as possible.

School photos will be held this year on Thursday 31st March.  For more information, please refer to the School Photos page of this newsletter.

If you haven't already done so, there is still an opportunity for students and families to join in the Mount Beauty Swim Club's 'Come and Try' sessions next week.  The club is well supported by our families and swimmers of all abilities are encouraged to attend.

Due to the Labour Day public holiday, there is no school or OSHC this Monday 14th March. We hope you enjoy a safe and happy long weekend!
