Staff Profile

Tony Stirling

It is a privilege to serve Scoresby Secondary College as the Head of Senior School and as a classroom teacher starting in 2020.  I come from Pascoe Vale Girls College where I served in a number of leadership roles over the years including Acting Head of Middle School, Year 11 Co-ordinator, Year 12 Co-ordinator, VCAL Co-ordinator, Careers Teacher, Vocation Education and Training (VET) Co-ordinator, College Council Treasurer and Sport Co-ordinator.  Please note that I was the Sport Co-ordinator when I was a lot younger and fitter!  My last role at my previous school was in the leading teacher position of Head of Engagement and Enhancement.  In this role I led a number of college processes and initiatives including student reporting, enhancement and accelerated learning programs, student voice, student goal setting, student data collection and analysis, and student transition programs.  As a leading teacher, I also conducted the performance reviews of teacher colleagues and led professional learning teams of teachers to improve teacher practice and student outcomes.

I completed my Bachelor degree and Diploma in Education at Monash University.  I then worked as the Assistant Manager at the Doncaster Inn Hotel before being employed in my chosen career of teaching. I completed my Masters focusing on Student Career Development in 2010 at Australian Catholic University. Studying my Masters put me back into the position of being a student after almost 20 years of teaching and this aspect was an enriching professional development activity in itself.

My daughter completed Year 12 in 2019, so I am experienced in being a teacher and parent of VCE.

My main interest outside teaching is in the Richmond Football Club.  I attend every game the team plays in Melbourne and in recent years I have developed an interest in watching the Tigers win premierships. This is an interest I hope to pursue further in 2020!
