Student Services

Welcome to all new students beginning at Scoresby Secondary College this year. I hope everyone had a relaxing holiday and have returned refreshed and ready to begin the new year.

The Student Services Team consists of Ms Amy Kirkbright (Chaplain) who is available on Monday’s and Thursdays,Ms  Maggie Lee (Yarra Valley Psychologist) who visits the college on Wednesdays, Dr Wesley Ko (Doctor) and Amelia Munafo (Nurse) from Eastlink Family Medical clinic who will be commencing on 24 February and will return every Monday thereafter. The College will also be allocated a Social Worker and Psychologist from the Department who are yet to be confirmed.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind students and families of the wellbeing services available and how they can access them.

Students can make appointments to see Amy, the Doctor and Nurse through Miss Lawson.  There will also be a drop in option to visit the doctor’s clinic which will be made available at recess, lunch and afterschool.  Access to Psychology or Social Work services are given when parental permission has been received and a discussion has been had with students and their families.

The newsletter provides a good opportunity to share information about programs that may be running within the community about health and wellbeing.  Each edition of the newsletter will aim to feature relevant programs/information sessions about wellbeing that could be relevant for students and/or parents and guardians.

In this edition please find attached a flyer in the Community News section, for a free parenting program that ParentZone East are hoping to start next week. Talking Drugs, Alcohol and Adolescents is an evidence based program to provide information and support to parents who are concerned about their child’s use of alcohol and/or other drugs.

Please feel free to contact Miss Lawson if you would to discuss the wellbeing of your student.
