No more Racism!

 By Aisha Senaweera

I strongly believe that no more racism would truly make the world better.

Firstly I think if we had no racism, the world would be a much happier place. There would be more peace and everyone would be friendlier. If we were more friendly, there would be more love in the world.

Secondly, it would be way more fair if we treated everyone the same because on the inside we are all the same. It would certainly make everybody feel safe and not threatened. Everyone would be happy!!!!!!!

Finally, no racism is a good example for kids. Kids can learn how to

help anyone, no matter what skin colour they are. Your kids can grow in a healthy world with no racism.

In conclusion, no more racism would help the world and everyone would live in a healthy world. SO DON’T BE RACIST!!!

Sonny in Year 6 used metal embossing foil to create his own Mexican Milagros. He added colour with a sharpie. Well done Sonny it looks fantastic.

District Cross Country

On Thursday 20 May selected students from year 3-6 attended the Mordialloc District Cross Country. All of the Cross Country team had trained hard before school and on the day did an amazing job, we are all very proud of their achievements.  St Brigid’s had 5 students make the top 10 and go through to the next round - congratulations Tess, Roman, Celine, Hudson and Xavier . Good luck in the next round.

Overall St Brigid’s came 5th out of 11 schools and 2nd in the handicap scores.

Netball

Over the last 3 weeks students from Foundation to Year 6 participated in a Netball program run by Netball Victoria. There were a number of students who really loved playing Netball and have asked for a list of clubs they can play at.

The following are links to contact details for two local netball associations, Kingston and District Netball Association (KDNA) and Springvale and District Netball Association (SDNA). I know you already have a few players at SDNA

Mathematics @ St Brigid's

Once a month Mathematical challenge activities will be presented to our school community through our newsletter.  These challenges are optional.  If you do complete one please take photos and email them to me at sripp@sbmord.catholic.edu.au.  Some of these photos will be published in our school newsletter.  I look forward to seeing your amazing solutions.

Biscuit Decorations

Andrew decorated 20  biscuits to take to a party.

He lined them up and put icing on every second biscuit.

Then he put a cherry on every third biscuit.

Then he put a chocolate button on every fourth biscuit.

So there was nothing on the first biscuit.

How many other biscuits had no decoration? Did any biscuits get all three decorations?

Hint: Use the problem solving strategy of ‘Drawing the Problem’ to help you try and solve this.

Online Challenge (using Multiplication Fact Knowledge)

Your child will need to have a good understanding of their multiplication facts in order to complete this.

4F Assembly - Friday 21 May

We hope you take the time to enjoy last week's Assembly video.  Sadly we are still under COVID 19 density rules which do not allow for parents and friends to attend our Assemblies held in Brigid Hall at this stage.  As soon as the density rules for schools change we will certainly let you know and welcome you back to Assemblies at school.
