Musical Moments!

Marimba Ensemble –

The marimbas gave a spirited performance to open the Shire of Shepparton celebrations of Refugee Week. We had the audience tapping their feet along with our vibrant rhythms!

Thanks to the students and families for their community spirit in enabling this performance.

Next term the marimbas will be playing for some of our community living in aged care, and also for the primary school.

We also have a Marimba Muster on October 24.

Jazz Ensemble -

The Jazz Ensemble played some great music for the College Deb Ball.

Year 7 student, Cooper handled the alto sax part on his own for the night, and Year 8 student Jamie starred in his first solo spot playing trumpet. Jonathan on bass and Joshua on drums gave us a great vibe, and this was picked up by solo players Angelina, Brianna, Paige and Olivia.

Jack and Brianna supported the solo players and also vocalist Angelina as she sang “Sway”.

Jazz Ensemble are playing in the Victorian School Jazz Festival on Thursday, August 15 at the Hawthorn Town Hall in Melbourne.

School Ensemble Concert -

Our final performance this Term was the Ensemble Concert held in E Wing.  All instrumental students played in their instrument and section ensembles and then all played Power Rock, for the final number.

The audience was very appreciative and greatly enjoyed the variety of music played by the smaller groups. They especially enjoyed “Our Song” performed by a small group of 6 singers who are currently preparing for the Boite Schools Chorus on August 8th at the Melbourne Town Hall. Another favourite was the flute solo by Angelina, playing the theme from Forrest Gump.

Well done to all Music students – enjoy the holidays and see you next Semester in what will be “The Festival Semester”, as all groups of musicians will be performing at a music Festival.
