Around the School
YEAR 9 ITALIAN
The last month of Italian for the Year 9 class has been all about FOOD!
To supplement our learning in the classroom students enjoyed 4 valuable activities and learnt skills which they will be able to use throughout their lives and share with their family and friends.
Our Italian gastronomical feast included:
- A delicious pranzo at Shepparton’s restaurant Cellar 47 where students practised Italian language learnt in class by ordering lunch from the menu in Italian
- Gnocchi making taught to us by Mrs Lina Bettanin
- A lesson on making fresh pasta taught to us by Mrs Agata Anderson
- Pizza making taught to us by Mrs Nina Vittorio from Casablanca Pizza & Pasta Restaurant
We are also grateful to our other Community champions and visitors especially David Earle from Shepparton South’s Rotary Club who organised our community cooking teachers and ingredients, Eva and Danny from I wish I’d asked, our mayor Cr Seema Abdullah and “Silver Warriors” Gerardo Fasano, Mario Bettanin, Mrs Campi and Mrs Mammone who shared their wonderful stories with us.
Toolamba Lion’s Club Youth of the Year Competition.
Three Year 10 McGuire students, Iman Sudi, Ginat Haroun and Paige Johnston participated in Toolamba Lion’s Club - Youth of the Year competition last month. It was held over two dates and focused on public speaking, devising a five minute speech on a topic of their choice and responding to impromptu questions.
Iman won the public speaking section and the overall competition, although scores were all very close! Iman will proceed to the next level of the competition next year.
