Footscray LIVE - www.livefm.online/footscray-live

2019 has been an amazing year for extra-curricular achievements here at Footscray City College. I am so glad we were able to end the year with the successful launch of Footscray LIVE. The production team of kids behind its inception dedicated themselves to many lunchtime meetings, full days of media training and panel discussion preparation. They were taught industry level skills from Ralph Barba, from Making Media, who was able to engage and excite them about being involved in this amazing venture.

A highlight of this entire experience has been the feedback from each of our guests as to how professional and well trained our students came across, never fumbling or pulling any punches. That was great to hear from highly reputable guests such as Sarah Carter, Bill Shorten, Paul Kelly and many others. They got to share their views and ideas, discussing trans rights, the imposed mobile phone policy and how they feel they fit into this ever-evolving world.

It has been so great seeing the students thrive and take on this project and eagerly anticipating how we will carry it on next year. Furthermore, I would like to thank all the staff and parents who became involved by sharing their stories and allowing our students to take a peek into your lives a little. As well as a huge thank you to Dan who helped source most of the original music and was the greatest support to me and the kids throughout this entire process.

“The program was an amazing opportunity for our students to be involved in a really authentic learning experience where they were pushed out of their comfort zones. They really had to put in their best effort and be brave in order to succeed, which I think they did..... and of course the highlight was being among the intimate audience of students and staff and singing along with Paul Kelly!” Dan Micallef

The station will remain broadcasting, at least, until the end of February 2020, with close to 40 hours of live radio content playing on rotation until then.
