NSW Country Rugby Union

Last weekend Edward Montgomery completed his NSW Country U14's program for 2019. He was selected from over 120 players which is a remarkable effort. He played two matches against ACT and Sydney, both were stiff competition. It is fantastic to see Edward excel in a variety of sports at such a high level. Well done to Edward, his hard work is paying off!

Netball NSW schools cup

Last Wednesday the Stage 3 and secondary boys netball sides attended the TAFE NSW Schools Cup in Inverell. Our Primary team finished in 3rd place! Our secondary teams had a few close losses and proved competitive all day. Well done to all of our talented netball players.

Australian Schools Sports Swimming Championships

Ava Macey has capped off an amazing season of swimming, representing NSW CPS at the Australian School Sports Swimming Championships in Melbourne. Ava shaved 0.68 seconds of her previous personal best to earn a fourth place in her 12 Years 50m Breaststroke event. She was just millimeters  away from third place, finishing just 0.04 seconds behind.

This is an amazing achievement for Ava to represent not only NSW but her school at such a high level. We are all very proud of her achievements and are all excited to see what other representative honours lay ahead.  Well done Ava, you star!

Heferen Shield

Last Friday our talented Primary Athletics Team competed at the Heferen Shield at Boughton Oval. Our runners were up against some tough competition from Moree Public and many other schools from around the area.

There were many individual honours with Jack Gobbert, Olivia Turner and Zara Cogan all getting announced as Age Champions for their age groups. These athletes along with many others broke many records throughout the day. Zara Cogan broke the Senior Girls 800m and Olivia Turner broke the 11 Years Girls 800m record. Alex Reardon, Jack Gobbert, Archie Crawford and Zara Cogan are all now current record holders in the 1500m event.

St Philomena's were rewarded with a great day of competition and were announced Heferen Shield Champions for the third year running.  Well done to all of our athletics team and the parents who assisted in the smooth running of the carnival. We wish them all the best at the Armidale Diocesan Athletics Carnival in a couple of weeks.
