Acting Principal

Dear College Families and Friends,

It has been a delight to join Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College and be so warmly welcomed by those I have already met. In getting to know your community, meeting student leaders, staff and parents, I have been struck by the pride and passion each brings to this community. I have loved hearing about the history of the College, learning about the growth and development of facilities and how many past students remain connected as alumni, as parents and even as staff. To me, this speaks of the strength and commitment to community. Thank you for my welcome, I look forward to getting to know you in the weeks and months ahead.

Today, like all regional Victoria, we returned to onsite learning for all students. Well done to all students through this week of remote learning. Thank you to parents for your generous support of your daughters’ and sons’ learning, I appreciate that many of you would have been juggling a range of work and family needs throughout this lockdown. My sincere appreciation also to the teachers who moved quickly to a mode of learning and teaching that had become very familiar to us throughout 2020.

In the next few weeks students will be involved in final semester assessments, review and revision; it is also a time for students to reflect on what they have achieved and perhaps consider new goals for Semester 2.

Parents of senior students would be aware that students and staff have recently moved to the newly completed Senior School building. This is a wonderful new addition for the College with amazing and beautiful spaces for VCE and VCAL students. How lucky the college is to have this new facility for all our students.

In this season of Pentecost, I share the following Richard Rohr prayer for community…

Loving God, you fill all things with a fullness and hope that we can never comprehend. Thank you for leading us into a time where more of reality is being unveiled for us all to see. We pray that you will take away our natural temptation for cynicism, fear and despair. Help us to have the courage to awaken to greater truth, greater humility and greater care for one another, may we place hope in what matters and what lasts, trusting in your eternal presence and love.

Amen
