Term 3, Week 8

Cricket

Dear families,

It is that time of year, when we begin to plan for cricket commencing in term 4. I am reaching out to check your child's interest in playing cricket next term and I am looking for a parent to coach the team/s. Pauline Robinson has done an amazing job over the past few years, and we thank her for all her hard work. We are seeking a new coach for term 4 and it would be great if a parent could take on this role. If you could please reply to this email ASAP so I can register teams that would be greatly appreciated. Please see the attached fixtures for term 4.

Kind regards,

Amy Byrnes

District Day 2021

The combined Airport and Western District Athletics day was held on Friday 3rd September at Henley-Grange Memorial Oval. This year we entered 37 athletes into a range of track and field events. Students were well behaved and represented the school values well by cheering on teammates and encouraging each other to do their best.

We came home with 12 ribbons, which is the best we’ve done in recent times. Ribbon winners were:

Emmanuel Z - 1st 100m

Charlee M - 1st 100m, 3rd Long Jump

Hayley R - 1st High Jump

Max D - 1st 100m, 1st 200m

Layla R - 3rd 200m, 2nd 800m, 2nd Long Jump

Jasper E - 2nd 800m

Jemma K - 3rd Shot Put

Mitchell H - 3rd High Jump

Those that won 1st places are now selected to represent the Airport District at the state championships to be held on Tuesday 21st September.

Congratulations to all our participants on a great day, and a huge thankyou to the parent helpers that came along to support the smooth running of the day.

Soccer 2021

Well done to all players for a great 2021 soccer season! On behalf of the 70 LNPS soccer players and families, I would like to say a big thank you to the wonderful parents (and grandparent) that have volunteered their time to coach this year.

Looking forward to seeing you all again next year!

Katie

I would like to thank Katie our school delegate for all her time, organisation and management of the 2021 soccer season. The school could not run a soccer program without a parent volunteering to do this job. I would also like to thank the coaches for all their time and experience that they have put in to make this season a wonderful success. It has been a challanging year trying to navigate with the Covid restrictions. Without parent support we would not be able to offer soccer to students.

Great team work yet again to our small team - Carmine, Cohen, David, Mitchell and Ryan. Always great to see the kid’s have fun together & for us to be supported the whole season by team parents!

Our competitive team has lots to offer:

U7 team

Another great team effort from our under 7s. We came up against a challenging opposition this week, but should be very proud of the improvements we’ve consistently seen throughout the season. Great work all!!

 U8 Blue team

We have had a great season with many wins and some life learns.  Last week, the team had kicked far too many goals against the opposition in the first 3 – 4 minutes, so we began to kick with our left foot only.  We then held hands at the half way line and waited for the other team to kick the ball 5 times before we launched forward, and it was still a whitewash.  Towards the end of the game, Ash grabbed Riley and said “Give him a chance”  LNPS kicked the ball purposely to the opposition and two LNPS players shepherded the opposition player down the length of the field and LNPS allowed him to kick the team’s only goal.  All of the players from both teams, coaches and parents cheered, united.  It was the most amazing experience and showed such maturity from all of the Under 8s.  Coaches Addie and Kero could not have been prouder!

U9 team

Rain or shine the team has done a fantastic job this season. We scored some goals and lose some, but the determination prevails. Well done Amelia, Blasko, Cassius, James, Joshua, Kian, Lachlan , Marcus and Mustafa.
