Principal's Message

Good afternoon Parents & Carers,
Student Leadership for 2022
The end of the 2021 academic school year is just around the corner and the school is busy preparing our end of year activities (based on COVID-19 Restrictions). Over the past week our Year 6 and Year 9 students have been preparing for the student leadership process and it is with great excitement that I am able to announce the School Captains for 2022.
Primary Captains:
Harriet Poole & Kellam Joseph
Primary Prefects:
Jasmine Ryan & Roger Vickery
School Captains:
Bronte Davison & Grace Grantham
From 2022, St Philomena's will be introducing a Student Leadership Council to support the role of school captain. The purpose of the Student Leadership Council is to provide student leadership (or student voice) within the school as we continue to develop (and sustain) a strong and positive learning culture for all students. Along with the Primary and Secondary Student Leaders, the Council will consist of approx 4-6 Stage 5 students (Year 9 & 10) providing student voice on matters concerning:
- Faith & Mission
- Culture and Wellbeing
- Environment & Sustainability, and
- Sport & Recreation
Over the coming week, Mr Clark and I will be interviewing interested Year 9 & 10 students to select the most suitable students for these important student leadership positions. An announcement regarding the successful students for the Council will be made later this week.
School Advisory Council
Thank you to all the parents that attended the St Philomena's School Advisory Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 23rd November. We received a number of new nominations for positions on the Advisory Council, and I am excited to welcome the following new appointments to the council for 2022:
- Brendan Moylan
- Jodie Litchfield
- Gina Munro-Sampson
I would also like to thank Mr Richard Clark, Mrs Maree Lovett and Ms Belinda Bremner for their service on the advisory council over the past few years. They have all provided incredible support and leadership throughout their time on the council.
Enjoy the final days of school, as we prepare for a well deserved Christmas break.
God bless
Jamie McDowall
