Year 9 Boys Cricket
On Monday the 13th Of February our Year 9 boys headed off to CSC Oval for the coastal cricket 30 over match.
CSC won the toss and decided to bat first. Hamish Darroch and Tom Permezel opened the bowling. Tom got the first wicket off the day with Sam McCarthy taking a good catch.
CSC started batting well and making some quick runs before Josh Brien and Max Heaton-Harris came on and both grabbed a wicket each. Tom Permezel and Hamish both came back onto bowl and got the last couple of wickets for Trinity, bowling CSC out for 141 off 25 overs.
Tom Permezel was the best of the bowlers getting 3 wickets, while Hamish Darroch got 2 and the rest of the bowlers all got 1 wicket each.
Trinity needed 142 to win and Hamish Darroch and Brad Foster got off to a great start, hitting 42 off the first 5 overs before Hamish was bowled out. CSC started to get some momentum rolling and got back into the game, picking up another couple of quick wickets before Tom Permezel came in and had a match winning innings.
He made 50 runs and got Trinity to 135 runs, only needing 7 to win off the last 5 overs. Drew Callahan and Sam McCarthy were batting and only needed 3 to win off the second last over before Sam got run out. Levi Duynhoven came in to bat with Drew while needing 2 runs off 7 balls. Drew hit the ball through the leg side and hit the winning runs to get Trinity the win with 6 balls to spare.
All the boys were very supportive of one another and secured a positive win sending them off to the next stage.
The best players for the day were Tom Permezel with an amazing 50 and 3 wickets leading the team, Hamish Darroch getting us off to a great start with bat and ball, and Brad Foster leading the team with the bat at the start of the innings.
Well done to all the players for the efforts and fantastic sportsmanship throughout the whole day and well done to Sam Kelly for leading the boys to a great victory.
