Living at Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre!
What a huge month we have enjoyed at MITS! On July 13th our Victorian students Hurrikane, Ciara and James joined staff and families in travelling to Darwin to continue their MITS journey.
After two weeks of quarantine and a negative test result, James and Hurra moved into the Dormitories at MLLLC and Ciara spent one night and Kianna’s place.
On Wednesday 29th July all the students arrived at the dorms and greeted each other with warmth and happiness - an excitement that was a sight to behold.
We have now had a month to get back into the routine of school, living together and phones being put away at 8pm (much to the disgust of most!).
During the week the students love playing basketball, especially knockout, chilling on their phones, watching TV and playing the quarantine-purchased PS4. We have delicious lunch and dinner provided by Aunty Pam and sort out our own breakfast cereals, juice and toast.
In the evenings some of the favourite activities include going to the Esplanade playground, driving around and watching the sunset from Nightcliff.
On the weekends we have been to Berry Springs, the Darwin Waterfront, Litchfield National Park, Mindil Beach markets and shopping at Casuarina. A highlight was also Dreamtime in the NT!
We hope everyone in Victoria is staying safe at home and we look forward to seeing the time when our students can be back in Melbourne.
