Hello everyone,

This is the final newsletter for the term and included are the known dates for Term 4. There are some incursions/excursions still to be confirmed so please be on the lookout for those dates as they appear. Some of the activities we can confirm include badminton, a dance incursion, and a senior excursion to the ACMI film centre.

Athletics

Congratulations to Harvey who came second in the Long jump at Bendigo on Monday and qualified for the next level of competition.

Working Bee

Thank you to Peter and Pete from the Buildings and Grounds sub-committee who organised the jobs for the working Bee. It was wonderful to see so many families represented. Brown, Creer, Curcio, Wiseman, Hosking, Ryssenbeek, Tolfree, James, Reynolds. Walsh, Owen, Pape, and Schreiber. Thankyou also to Sarah C for the lovely morning tea. If I have missed anyone from this list my apologies. The students and staff are very grateful. Our ability to have a working bee has truly made a comeback and there are photos later in the newsletter.

Family Picnic

The weather held off for the working bee and for the Family picnic which I heard did indeed have pizza! I hope that everyone who attended had a lovely time!

Mango Drive

The Mango Drive is up and running. If you are a fan of Mangoes, please consider supporting Newham Primary school by purchasing a tray. I have put my order in, I hope you will too.

Sustainability Competition at Newham PS

Information has gone into all the classrooms this week about our term 4 classroom competition, where students will be able to submit a design to put on our rubbish bins. Not only will these designs make our bins look terrific, but they will also explain to everyone what each bin is for and encourage our community to do the right thing and bin their waste. The designs chosen will be made into large vinyl bin stickers which are very hardy and will highlight our students’ work for years to come.

Kids Teaching Kids on Tuesday

Our year 6s headed to Hanging Rock to participate in the Kids Teaching Kids sustainability day. Costa from the ABC garden show was there, and the day was very well attended. Our students shared their experiences and explained the measures they have undertaken to manage and promote sustainability here at school by running a workshop for the other schools (photos in the newsletter).

Tomorrow is the last day of term. There will be an assembly at 2.15pm for a 2.30pm school finish.

Have a lovely Term Break and we will see you all back on 3rd October for the last term of school for 2022.
