On Tuesday the 20th August our Under 16 Girls Tackle Rugby League team travelled to Croome Rd, Albion Park to compete in the Annual NRL Girls Tackle Day. For some of the girls it was their fourth year competing in this competition and for others it was their first experience of playing tackle Rugby League. In our first game against Bulli High school, we got off to a slow start and were eventually beaten 12-10, the girls were unlucky to lose and Bulli went on to top our pool and progress to the Semi Finals, so although it was a disappointing result, the girls played extremely well.

Unfortunately, as the day progressed, a few minor injuries and fatigue prevented the girls from performing to their potential and were narrowly beaten by Holy Spirit College and Shoalhaven High school in their next two games.

Although the results didn’t go our way, the Girls were a credit to Lake Illawarra High school, upholding our school values both on and off the field. All the girls are looking forward to competing again next year and improving on their performances.
