Year 5/6 Hoop Time

Once again the Cavendish basketballers, this time the Year 5/6 team, had a very successful Hoop Time Tournament in Hamilton. On Monday, seven Year 5/6 children played 5 matches in the Future Stars section. All the matches were fast paced and everyone contributed to the team effort. Games had 2 six minute halves, except for our last one which due to time restrictions was 10 minutes straight. Notable performances were a few long bomb 3- pointers and lay-ups from both Hughie Price and Jack Quinn. Both these boys play competitively during the term as does Mietta and their great skills were evident. Pleasingly our netballers were able to adapt their court awareness and ball skills to basketball as well and this made our team formidable!

Winning 4 out of 5 games, the Cavendish Future Stars made it into the Semi-Finals. By this final game though, all the players were beginning to slow yet still tried their hardest. We were just beginning to fight back against Tarrington when the buzzer sounded. We lost by just 2 goals. Congratulations, a stirling effort by our team!

Thank you to the supporters who cheered the team on and another big THANK YOU to Claire Quinn  who scored for the whole day. Your efforts are much appreciated.
