National Health & Physical Education Day

Australian school children rank among the worst in the world when it comes to their physical activity levels. To tackle this problem, they need to be taught skills and have better knowledge and understanding of how to lead active and healthy lifestyles.

That’s why National Health and Physical Education (HPE) Day has been designed to raise awareness of, and advocate for, a greater focus of HPE in our schools.  Marlborough Primary School has registered to participate in National Health and Physical Education Day .

When:      Thursday 12th September.

What:       Activities in class and at lunchtime will be arranged throughout the day

Where:    Wear your favourite team colours For example : AFL, football, baseball, basketball , netball ,        cricket.

Why:         To have a fun, action , active HPE day.

District Athletics

On Wednesday 4th September,  the Warrandyte District Athletics was held at Bill Stewart Park. The weather was great, the atmosphere electric and the competition fierce. The student’s efforts were fantastic even though we had some students absent, lots of students put their hand up to have a go in their spots.  We also received the best result in our Cross ball and Tunnel ball games for all age groups.

These kinds of days are not possible without the help and support of staff and parents, so I would like to say a HUGE thankyou to staff Lisa Reiner, Sheena Cronin, Michelle Mielnik, Tanya Dearsley, Anna Bondini, Lisa Mackney, Alison Tonkin and Neil Butler.  Also, student teachers Cher Li, Sylvia and Greg, plus parent helper Stine Ytting EjStrup, for all their support and help before the carnival and on the day. Thank you also, to the parents and grandparents, who came along to support their child and Marlborough P.S.

We had some excellent results from the day, coming 7th overall.  In our 9/10 Age Group we came 3rd overall.  Everyone should be very proud of the way they performed and participated on the day.

We had many students get ribbons competing against 9 other schools is a big effort.

The following students have made it through to Divisional Athletics which is being held on Tuesday October 8th at Bill Sewart Reserve:

  • Natalia M:  1st in 100m, 11 Age Group.
  • Charlotte W: 1st in Triple Jump, 9/10 Age Group
  • Caelan M: 1st in Triple Jump, 11 Age Group.

We wish them all the best for their next competition.
