Reading and Viewing In Foundation, we use the Jolly Phonics program to learn letter-sound relationships in term 1. We also follow SMART Foundation which is a spelling based program. Literacy Groups begin in week 5 of Term 1. These activities include letter identification, letter/ sound knowledge and oral language activities. Parent helpers are necessary for Foundation Y to run successfully. Parent helpers are required to complete a course to help in classes. This is now incorporated in the Foundation Information Evening. A parent helper roster is on the classroom window for parents to write down their availability. | Writing Writing - There is a writing lesson each day and students are encouraged to write using what they learn each day from Jolly Phonics and life experiences. Students are also prompted with word cards from the Magic 100 Words program.
Speaking and Listening The students will complete activities that focus on listening and speaking during Literacy activities. From week 5, students will also share in Language Experience. A roster of topics covered will be shared on SkoolBag at a closer date. |

Our BIG Concept is Community.
Our first term Religion unit is ‘Church Community’.
This unit explains ways a church and school community are part of the family of God.
We also interpret experiences of family and friendship in relation to God’s family.
And Reflect on how they live as part of a family, school and the family of God.
Our inquiry unit is ‘Belonging’.
Some of the key questions we will focus on are:
- What are my strengths?
- What groups do I belong to?
- Who is in my family?
- What community do I belong to?
- What is in my school community?
- Who are the community helpers?
