9 Media

Last weekend, Year 9 student Max Currie's short film The Apocalypse was premiered at Lido Cinemas in Hawthorn at this year’s CHIFF (Children’s International Film Festival); part of the Isolation Film Festival, which called for original short films made in isolation from Australian filmmakers, Max's film was among a selection of the top films from the under 18 age category to be screened at CHIFF. Congratulations Max!

The three minute film was written, directed and edited by Max as part of his MYP Media studies in Semester 1 this year. Max also stars in the film, which was shot entirely in his backyard during lockdown.

"I was initially motivated by the competition prize money, but found that I really enjoyed the technical and creative aspects of making the film, and covering myself with mud!"

CHIFF continues until Sunday 13 December at cinemas in Belgrave, Elsternwick and Hawthorn.
