Grade 1/2

Persuasive Writing:

Children can be pretty persuasive when they want to be, don't you think? Well, the children in 2SB certainly can be! Over the last 4 weeks, they have been learning about persuasive writing in its many forms, from advertisements to packaging to letters and so on. They felt very passionate about a missing piece of play equipment from their beloved ACPS playground and decided they wanted to convince Mrs Thornton to bring it back. As a group, during Writer's Workshop, the students brainstormed reasons why they should have it back, and as a class, formalised a letter. They then called Mrs Thornton out to the playground where Zac & George read the letter to her on behalf of the grade. Within 30 minutes of reading it to her, the students received an email reply saying that she had already contacted some companies for a quote... so, watch this space!

Read the letter they wrote below to find out more...

Dear Mrs Thornton,

We desperately want the playground train back at ACPS! It was a favourite play equipment of many children across the school, from Prep to Grade 6.

As you know, the boys in our class have had many problems playing footy together this year and we strongly believe that getting the train back will give us something else to do at recess and lunch times.

The train allowed us to be creative in the games we played. For example, we invented games called Runaway Train Driver, Runaway Money, Climb the Train, Cops & Robbers and Grab on Tight. You want to know more? Just ask us and we’ll teach you how to play! Even better… bring the train back and we’ll SHOW you!

The train was taken from us after only one year at school (half of which was spent in lockdown!) and we feel robbed of such precious play time and making memories with our friends.

This train was the best and we need it back! So, will you bring back this much-loved train to the students of ACPS?

The Students of 2SB

Ollie Online:

Students were lucky enough to take part in an online session with Marty and Ollie from Inform & Empower. During the session, they sang, danced and learnt how to be safe and healthy digital citizens. They learnt the importance of balancing 'screen time' with 'green time' and brainstormed the many activities they do during green time. A flyer should have come home with some parent information last week, but just incase, click on the link below!

Come and Join 'Wolf Club'

Running every Wednesday at lunchtime, some of the girls in 2SB have created 'Wolf Club', where they create fairy gardens and the likes. More info to be announced at Assembly!
