Sustainability
As we continue our mission of redirecting waste at Hampstead Primary we have been thinking about the reducing component of the three R's.
Many of our classes are using the caddies and our green waste is being composted rather than heading to landfill. This stops methane gases entering our environment and provides healthy compost for our gardens. We have noticed that in our caddies there is often uneaten fruit or fruit with a few bites taken out of it. Below you will find some tips to not only reduce the waste but also save you money.
One very simple way to reduce waste and save money is to embrace "Nude Food"
What is Nude Food?
Nude Food is food without excess packaging. This reduces the amount of 'stuff' that needs to go in bins to be sent to landfill. Durable, reusable containers are a great way to bring food, as they may last from pre-school through to high school and beyond, providing long term cost savings and environmental benefits.
