Week 6 Term 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Today we celebrate Mary going to heaven. On this day, 'God took Mary, body and soul, to heaven after her life on earth had come to an end.’

The Feast of the Assumption is one of the most important feast days of the year and a Holy Day of Obligation on the official Roman Catholic Church calendar. The Assumption signifies the end of Mary’s earthly life and marks her return to heaven to be reunited with Jesus. The Gospel highlights Mary's faith. Her openness to God allowed God to work through her.  May we be like Mary, a model of love, devotion, and faith.

Circus

It has been a great start to our circus lessons, with all the students engaged in many different balancing, juggling and movement activities. These lessons will continue every Monday and Thursday. Your child is welcome to wear their sports uniform if they feel more comfortable. We can’t wait for the big performance on Thursday, October 20th. More details will be available closer to the date.

Science Week

This coming week we celebrate Science Week. The teachers have prepared some fantastic learning focussing on the Chemical Science strand of the curriculum. There are also many events in our community that highlight Science Week happening over the next few weeks. Please take the opportunity to explore these with your child/ren.

Australian Girls Choir

The Australian Girls Choir has been providing high quality Performing Arts education and wonderful performance opportunities to thousands of girls from across the country for more than 30 years. On Friday, the choir will allow students to audition. Please see the information sent home. Please contact Vira Pirrotta if you would like any further information.

Congratulations

Congratulations again to Mr Frazetto, Catherine, Ethan, Connor and Scarlet. They will present their prototype of CLEO the Cleaning Whale at the National STEM MAD showcase on Tuesday 6th September. Well done, and good luck.

Good Luck

We wish the district athletic team all the best as they compete this Wednesday. Thank you to Mr Jennings for his work in preparing the students for these events over the last few weeks.

Reminder

It has come to our attention that some parents are parking illegally on Saunders Street. I would like to remind all parents that there is no parking outside the school during drop-off or pick-up times. We ask for your support in this matter.

A reminder that our school closure day is on Friday, August 26th. That day teachers will engage in professional learning and development around our Catholic identity.

Have a wonderful week,

Vira Pirrotta

Acting Principal
