Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's Primary School,

I would like to warmly welcome back all families to classroom learning. It has been a very challenging time for students, parents and the staff as we have had to navigate our way through remote learning.

While challenging, there have been many silver linings. One of these has been the way that many of our students have developed into independent and self motivated learners. I have been very impressed with how quickly the Foundation to Year Two students have settled back into their classrooms and how eager our Year Three to Year Six students were to see their friends and teachers in 3D rather than on a screen! Until face to face contact is taken away it is easy to take for granted the importance of human contact and being able to connect in real life. Seeing someone on a screen can only do so much!

Like you, I have had to assist my own children through their remote learning. It was certainly not easy and I am very grateful that they are now back at school! It was strange this morning packing my youngest's lunch and sending him on his way after all this time. I look forward to hearing about his day when we all get home tonight and to listen to the adventures he has had. He was certainly nervously excited. Let us pray that the spread of the virus continues to be minimal! We certainly live in a lucky country.

In order to stay safe and to minimise the spread of the virus we will continue with extended cleaning. Your children will no doubt notice the cleaners as they continuously wipe down high touch surfaces, including the toilets and the tables in their classrooms.

The playgrounds and sandpit have not reopened and the children are asked to wash their hands before and after play times.

Term 2 ends on Friday June 26 and resumes for students on Tuesday July 14. We have decided to postpone our school closure day that was meant to take place on Tuesday June 9 to Friday 24th July. Please see the School Calendar for more details. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)

Each year, schools are required to submit data on students with disabilities to the government.

It counts the number of students who receive additional adjustments or ‘help’ at school because of a disability. The NCCD helps governments plan for the needs of students with disabilities.

Consent is not required for this data to be collected.

The following link contains a fact sheet for parents regarding NCCD and the process involved in collecting the data. The information has also been included in four languages (Arabic, Simple Chinese, Vietnamese and Tagalog)
