Sport

Whilst we are not currently active in community and School sport, a number of our students were still competing up until the current lockdown occurred. This week we have some well deserved congratulations for our athletes.

Congratulations

Orienteering

A quiet achiever, Oliver Freeman (Year 11) has this week been named in the NSW All Schools team for Orienteering. He will attend the Australian Schools Orienteering Championships to be held in Tasmania in the September school holidays. Oliver is only one of six athletes who have been chosen to compete in the Senior Boys Division of this competition. We wish him all the best for September.

Basketball

Josie Hill (Year 10) was recently accepted into the Basketball NSW ‘I am a Girl’ program. This program aims to encourage females of all ages to be actively involved in all aspects of Basketball. The program provides pathways and assists in the development of female role models. This is an outstanding opportunity for Josie and will allow her to work with some of Basketball NSW’s best female players. We wish her all the best with the program.

Football

Rosie Sullivan competed at the NSWCIS Football Championships at the end of Term 2. The team was successful overall placing 2nd. This is the end of Rosie’s Football Representative career with BMGS, who has been a great ambassador both for BMGS and ISA during her time at the School. Well done and all the best with your future Football endeavours, Rosie.

BMGS Athletics Results

Congratulations to the following students who broke records at the BMGS Athletics Carnival this year:

  • Amelie Hugo –         200 metres and 400 metres
  • Zara Nicholas –       13 Years Discus and the 13 Years long jump.  The long jump record was last set in 1976 so this was an outstanding achievement for Zara.
  • Angus Herron -        15 Years Javelin
  • Olivia Harris -           15 Years Javelin
  • Bethany Lane -        17 Years Javelin

Congratulations to all these students on these fine achievements.

NSWCIS Events

We have some students who have been selected at an ISA level for various sports, however they have not as yet competed at the NSWCIS level. NSWCIS has postponed all upcoming events and are hoping to be able to play these later in the term.

Please watch the Newsletter for further updates.

ISA Athletics Carnival

At this stage the ISA Athletics Carnival is still on. Students will receive notification of their inclusion in the team over the next week. Please ensure you return your permission note as soon as possible so that your inclusion in the team can be confirmed.

If you do not own a BMGS Basketball singlet, you will need to hire a singlet from the Uniform Shop.
