Junior School

It is under strange circumstances indeed that I welcome you “back to school” this term. I have managed to join a number of classes’ Zoom meetings to say hello to all the children working from home and it was gratifying to see many smiling faces and to hear the chat between them and their teachers. It is so important to stay connected in these isolating times and these regular sessions with classmates and teacher are one way we can achieve this.

I have been so grateful to the teachers for the can-do, solution focused, no nonsense manner that they have brought to this challenge of providing learning from home.

We have very small numbers of children of essential workers at School, but it has given me an insight as to how the remote learning is operating as I have been on supervision a couple of times at each campus. What has been most pleasing is to see how willing and engaged the children are in working through their set tasks, even the youngest ones for whom this is most challenging, and that the learning being provided is of the quality expected.

Well done to all of you parents out there who are assisting and supervising at home. I know what a challenge it is and am grateful for your efforts. We have a team of family liaison contacts who are reaching out to families to see if there is any way we can support and Mrs Arrell and Mrs Boros have been a tower of support as always. If there is anything we can do to help ease the burden of remote learning, please reach out to us. In partnership we can get through this together.
