Head of Sport - Miss Hayley Boxall
We received a lovely message from Principal Sally Mason at Coleraine Primary School after 5 of our students helped them at their Athletics day.
"Baimbridge students represented your school very well last Friday, assisting in measuring, recording, demonstrating skills and supporting young students in their events. They were presented with a certificate and a small gift voucher, in appreciation of their help."
Well done!!
On Tuesday 22nd Feb, a number of students attended the Glenelg Division Swimming Sports. Students swam really well with a number of students placing in their races throughout the day. A highlight of the day was Charlotte Dahl coming away with Age group champion in the 14 Year old Girls. Dominic Hoggard and Nathan Clark both qualified for the GWR Swimming at the time of publishing we did not have results. We wish them all the best in their events.
This year we have started up the Baimbridge College Netball Academy. This is open to all students to join. Netball academy has been running on a Tuesday afternoon after school this term with a number of students attending. Students in the netball academy work on a range of different skills throughout the session and often compete in some game play at the end.
Student who attend the Netball academy are prioritized for Saturday morning netball competitions, the Netball Victoria School Championships and GWR Netball teams. Netball academy sessions have finished for this term but will be starting up again next term in preparation for the Netball Victoria School Championships. If you are interested in joining the Baimbridge Netball academy, please contact Miss Boxall. All are welcome.
The Saturday morning netball competition run by the Hamilton Netball Association has been up and running again in term 1. Baimbridge has entered 3 teams in total, including two u15/u18’s team and an u13’s team. It’s great to see so many girls back on the court after a couple of years off netball.
Last round saw the two Baimbridge u15/18’s team verse each other which was fantastic to see. They all looked so professional in the new Baimbridge Netball Dresses.
We hope to continue developing our netball programs at Baimbridge and hope to see even more teams entered in term 4.
On Thursday 3rd March, Baimbridge held the house athletics at Pedrina Park. It was hot and humid, and considering the conditions, we still had some excellent participation throughout the day.
The day started off with the 1500m run, which saw probably the largest number of participants in the event that we have seen in a while.
After the 1500m’s students headed out to the field events and the rest of the track events got underway. The House leaders did an excellent job at organizing their house groups and the Year 12’s also ran novelty events which were a hit with many students.
The following records were broken on the day.
12-13 Years Boys 100m Dash
2008 13.11sec Johnathon Frost
2022 12.98sec Isaac Lehman (Laver)
12-13 Years Boys Triple Jump
2015 9.23m Travis Scott
2022 9.65m Isaac Lehman (Laver)
16 Years Girls 200m Dash
2020 31.69sec Isabella Morgan
2022 31.64sec Alexis Hunt (Laver)
17 Years Girls 4x100 Relay
2014 1:00.92 min Cuthbert
2022 56.74sec Bradman
2022 59.40sec Cuthbert
Well done the following students who took out age group champions for their respective age groups.
