Parents & Friends Community News

Hey Folks,

We hope all our lovely mums and/or special someone enjoyed their Mother’s Day gift specially chosen by our children at the school’s Mother’s Day Stall.  A special thanks to Grade 1 parents,  Sammy Simmonds and Sophie Craig who orchestrated the entire event and did a great job sourcing locally produced gifts and supporting our local businesses.  Thanks also to our wonderful team of parent volunteers who helped the kids choose their gifts, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Next Up – LAPATHON Thursday 20th May

No rest, literally, it’s LAPATHON time.  Thankfully for the parents, it’s the kids running and not us!  Thursday 20th May will see all our students give their best and run/walk/jog/wheel their way around the junior oval for the chance to win the coveted Lapathon Champion Cup for their House and claim the highest lap tally for their class to win a fab class surprise.  Oh, and they all get an icy pole to boot!  The more laps the kids run, the fitter they become and the more funds we raise for our school.  We encourage everyone to get behind the kids, rally for sponsors and get them in training.  See our Compass posts for further details and the running schedule.  QKR is now open for all sponsorship donations and spectators are welcome on the day.

Mum’s Social - Thursday 20th May, Half Moon 7pm for 7.30pm start

We have had a great response with over 45 mums across 9 teams already registered for our trivia quiz social night. If you would still like to join us, send us an email - (pfc@brighton.vic.edu.au) - and no need to worry if you haven’t got a team as we can join you up with others.  Our quiz master, Michelle Gibson, is already plotting the categories and questions so get ready for a big night of fun and giggles.

Dates to Remember

Friday 25th June-  last day of term Fun Lunch for the kids.

Saturday 24 July -  the big mid-year event.  Get your babysitters sorted, this is one NOT TO BE MISSED.  Don’t listen to Dan the Man saying we can’t travel……  We are breaking out of the bubble and transporting you to the city that never sleeps - New York, New York – and maybe a few decades back – so dust off your glad rags and let’s get this party started.  More details to come in the coming weeks, but make sure you have it blocked out in your calendars.

Saturday 7 August - Dad’s Footy game against Brighton Beach Primary School.  The dads are finalising the details and will let us know more soon.

Friday 19th November  - the Community Carnival.  Every time we sit down and discuss this event we get so excited at all the wonderful things we could do.  It’s hard to know where to stop, but think, old school fete; tombolas, stalls, crafts, fun sports, bouncy castle, food, drinks and……………………… dunk the teacher?  If you are keen to get involved in the organisation and running of this in any way then please get in touch with us.
