From Principal Steve | BPS Planning for 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

PLANNING FOR 2022

Term 2 and 3 is the time when our school begins planning for the following year. Knowing our enrolment for the year ahead helps us to make decisions around staffing and budgets. The sooner we have this information, the more prepared we can be for the following year. The following message contains some information, reminders and actions you can take to help us obtain this information.

RETURNING BPS STUDENTS 2022

Thank you to those parents who have already completed our ‘students returning to BPS in 2022’ survey. This survey has been set up on Compass and we would ask that parents complete this survey by 28th May 2021. Our office will share another reminder with the associated Compass link later this week if you missed the previous message and have not yet registered your child at BPS for 2022.

PREP STUDENT ENROLMENT 2022

Thank you also to those parents who have already registered your child/ren in Grade Prep at Brighton Primary School for school year 2022. We are excited that your child will be joining our school and look forward to welcoming them when your family visits our school.

Most parents send their child to the public school closest to where they live. Every child has the right to attend their designated neighbourhood school. Parents also have the choice to enrol your child at a school outside of your designated neighbourhood zone. Our school is able to accept enrolments outside of our zone as long as we have enough space. Once our school is full, we cannot accept enrolments from outside of our neighbourhood zone.

We currently have 50 Prep students registered for the next school year. Our focus on teaching and learning, especially in the area of literacy this year, combined with a largely positive experience with remote learning for most families has helped to strengthen community confidence in our school. Our Prep 2022 enrolment appears to be bucking the declining student demographic trend that many other schools in the Beachside region are experiencing. If you have not registered your child in Prep for next year, we would ask that you complete the application and send it to Sally Collins; our student admission manager ASAP via email at: brighton.ps@brighton.vic.gov.au

PREP PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONS

This term, we have commenced our Prep Information Sessions which provide an overview of our school, our teaching and learning program as well as some specific details about our Prep Program.

There is still some availability in our final session Wednesday 19th May at 9.30am.  Parents are invited to register their attendance viahttps://compasstix.com/e/vn42c7ghe8 .

We look forward to meeting all new parents of Prep students at one of the forthcoming Prep Parent Information Sessions.

In summary, please note the following key reminders and actions:

  • Complete the Returning BPS Students 2022 survey on Compass
  • Encourage any families who you think may be considering enrolling into Prep to attend one of our information sessions

With best wishes,

Steve
