A VISIT FROM THE MINISTER

Last Thursday, the Minister for Education, the Right Honourable James Merlino, visited Wanganui Park SC to make a very important announcement. He arrived at around 10am to be greeted by dignitaries from the Regional office along with the student leadership group from all four local secondary colleges. After a brief tour of the school, the Minister met with a number of groups of students who have been involved in programs like the “I’d Wished I’d Asked” program, the Year 9 Leadership camp and our VCAL support groups. He then addressed the staff at a morning tea in the Staff Room to announce the three Greater Shepparton College (interim name) campus Principals for 2020/21, those being Ken Murray (Wanganui Park campus), John Sciacca (McGuire campus) and Stephen Bolton (Mooroopna campus). He also announced that, for the transition period up to when the new school opens on the current Shepparton HS site, that all bus transport for students getting to the three campuses will be free of cost. The Minister completed his stay with a meeting with representatives from the four School Councils.

STUDENTS SIGNING OUT

When a student has an appointment and needs to leave school during the day, they sign out on the Main Office IPad. However, they still need a parent or guardian to sign them out in our booklet. Too many students are signing themselves out and just leaving. We have no way of knowing if these are legitimate. So we need a parent or guardian to come into the Main Office to sign them out properly. Thanks for your understanding with this request.
