Teaching and Learning

NAPLAN:

NAPLAN continues this week for students in Grade 3 and Grade 5 Each year, we always endeavour to make NAPLAN as stress free as possible, for both families and students. Despite some tech issues for our Grade 5 students last Wednesday, we were so impressed with students’ patience and resilience. To prepare for the remainder of the tests this week, there are a few reminders:

1. Headphones and iPads for Grade 5s: Please bring iPads fully charged along with some compatible headphones. Wired/plug in headphones are preferred. Please ensure that your child has the latest version of the NAP 2026 app installed on their iPads. This is essential for your child to be able to access the test. This will be found in the iPad App Store by searching 'NAP'.

2. Encourage your child to prioritise a good night's sleep to feel refreshed and focused for the day.

3. Encourage your child to eat a nutritious breakfast to support their brain and body throughout the day.

4. The layout of your child's classroom may look different when they enter each morning. The physical space will be set up for test conditions. A reminder of this change at home before school can help to reduce any surprises that might make your child feel unsettled.

5. Overall, school is always here to help support your child's wellbeing. If you feel that your child would benefit from some additional support throughout the NAPLAN period, please reach out to your child's teacher or give the office a call.

Curriculum Committee:

The Term 1 Curriculum Committee has made a fantastic start to the year with their Home Reading initiatives! Last week, the Term 1 team also began to organise student choice Term 2 Content Knowledge Units. To promote Middle and Senior students having agency in their learning, Term 2 has an opportunity for a ‘student choice’ unit. The Curriculum Committee prepared options, presented these to all Middle and Senior classes and have analysed the data.
