Grade 6 - Operating With Decimals
This term in Maths, we’ve been diving into the world of decimals. We have extended our understanding of the place value system past the decimal point and explored how important it is to pay close attention to place value when working with decimal numbers.
We have been building our confidence adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals through open-ended problems (DDD’s), maths games, and targeted tasks. These activities have given us lots of opportunities to practise our thinking, explain our strategies, and learn from one another.
We have also explored the MR DULL strategy to help us multiply and divide by powers of 10, strengthening our understanding of how digits move within the place value system. It has been wonderful to see students growing in confidence and tackling tricky problems with persistence and curiosity.
