Learning Power Award Recipients

Congratulations to students who have been recognised by staff for their demonstration of one or many of the 6 Learning Powers celebrated at SMDP.

On Monday, during our whole school assembly, the following students were acknowledged and their learning described so we all know why they are worthy recipients of our awards and applause.

Grace

For your motivation and joy for learning, as you always bring a positive attitude and a big smile to our classroom. You show great focus by listening carefully and starting your work straight away, always doing your best and a little bit more. You are a kind friend to everyone and a wonderful part of our SMDP community. Well done, Grace!

Neil

For being a resilient learner who shows growing confidence and determination in his learning every single day. Neil consistently tries his absolute best and is always willing to have a go at tasks, even when they feel challenging. He approaches every activity with determination and a great attitude, showing us all how to keep trying when things get tricky. Thank you, Neil!

Millie 

This student has demonstrated excellent reflective skills in her learning last week. She has been thoughtfully considering her goals and is confidently raising her hand during whole-class activities, showing both initiative and consideration for others by helping to ensure that everyone has a chance to participate. This student  has also reflected on her writing this week. She used the tricky word wall and the class timetable to help her spell important words in her narrative. This shows she is building confidence and becoming more independent in her writing. Well done on a fabulous week of learning!Keep up the amazing work!

For being a collaborative learner every day. You care greatly about your classmates, and their learning, as much as your own. You bring kindness to our classroom, and make the people around you feel included and safe. You are always willing to ask and answer questions and help others out if they need it. Divyanshi

This student has shown a wonderful resilient mindset in her learning. She comes to lessons with a positive attitude, sits beautifully on the floor, and confidently puts her hand up to share her ideas. She has shown great effort in her spelling and stayed focused during maths and reading tasks.

In writing, she shows patience and effort by asking about spelling when she is unsure and working hard to create her stories. She also collaborates thoughtfully with her classmates and always tries her best.

We are very proud of her focus, patience, and resilience.

Term 1, Week 10

Julian

for your creativity and bravery, as you showed wonderful confidence while playing the role of Jesus in our Palm Sunday Liturgy. You lead the Preps and Grade 1's calmly, helping us all understand this special story through your expressive performance. It took great courage to stand in front of everyone, and you did it with a big smile and a very brave spirit. Well done, Julian! We are so proud of your creative leadership and thrilled to have you in our SMDP community.

This award is for a Curious Learner who consistently engages in all learning tasks and is always striving to do his best work. He is quick to get ready for learning and find his spot on the mat, showing his interest and curiosity.  Keep up the great effort, Lucas.

Lyra 

Over the past two weeks, this student has shown excellent focus and dedication during her swimming lessons. She listens carefully to her teacher, consistently follows instructions, and demonstrates a strong understanding of pool safety. 

Her progress in the water has been outstanding. She can now float and tread water independently. While she is quietly confident in her abilities, she remains humble and open to learning. She should be very proud of the effort and progress she has made. Well done Lyra

For being a collaborative learner. You are kind to everyone around you every day, and have been spotted offering support to others both during learning and play time, making our classroom a happy place. Thank you for being such a great classmate. Well done, Alyssa!

Neon

For being a learner who consistently demonstrates high expectations and resilience in the classroom. He is always on task and completes his work quickly and accurately, especially in maths. He shows excellent whole-body listening on the mat and thoughtfully shares his ideas. 

He also works well with his peers to create a detailed and useful online safety poster. We especially appreciate his resilience, when he needed to start his writing again, he did so without complaint and produced a well-structured piece with a strong start and accurate punctuation. We are very proud of his efforts. Well done, Neon.

As a reflective learner, she approaches every task with care and a steady focus. Her hard work is matched by her kindness; she is always the first to offer a helping hand to a peer in need. This quiet confidence is a genuine asset to our classroom, creating a positive influence that everyone feels. Elise reminded us that true leadership comes in many forms. You are the perfect example of this, proving that you don't need to shout to make a massive impact on those around you. Well done Bianka!

For demonstrating remarkable bravery and resilience.

You are quiet in nature and find speaking in front of others a daunting challenge but we have noticed how you are growing in confidence, sharing your ideas and thoughts without feeling so nervous. 

You read the part of  Miss Trunchbull from Matilda, with such expression and conviction, that you went from being our quietest student to making us all terrified of 'The Chokey and we all loved every second of it.
