Learning, growing and celebrating together...
Dear Sacred Heart Kew Families,
As we approach Mother’s Day this Sunday, it’s a perfect time to pause and reflect on just how special our Mum’s (and all the wonderful mother figures in our lives) truly are. On Sunday, our children will show their Mum just how special they are to them, as they unveil their carefully chosen gifts purchased at our Mother’s Day Stall on Tuesday. I hope that my Mum likes what I chose.
At school, we see many amazing talents on display every day, children mastering maths concepts, conquering spelling lists, and creating incredible artworks, receiving student of the week awards. But if there were an award for the ‘Most Impressive Multitasker’, I suspect our Mum’s would receive this not just once or twice a year, but every single day.
Let’s think about it for a while. Mum’s have an extraordinary ability to:
Translate teenage grunts into full sentences (trust me, mine certainly did)
Mum’s are often the quiet heroes behind the scenes, tying shoelaces, checking readers, attending assemblies, cheering from the sidelines, and offering that all important hug at the end of a long day. They juggle busy schedules, endless to-do lists, and still manage to remember which day is sport day (a superpower many of us are still trying to develop).
But beyond the humour, what makes Mum’s truly special is the love, care, and encouragement they give us so freely. They help our children grow not only in knowledge, but in kindness, resilience, and confidence. That influence lasts far beyond the classroom.
To all our Sacred Heart Kew mothers and those who play mothering roles in our lives, may much love and attention be heaped upon you next week, on Mothers’ Day. Thank you for all that you do for us and for the comfort, joy and goodness that you bring to our lives each and every day. Thank you for the early mornings, the late nights, the patience, the laughter, and everything in between. We particularly remember those beautiful mothers’ whose memory we hold near and dear to us at this time every year, who may not physically be with us any longer, but who live on in our hearts forever.
Wishing all our families a joyful and heartfelt Mother’s Day.
Kind Regards,
Ed Weekes
School Principal
