Attendance / Wellbeing

Hi families,

At WNPS, we are beginning a review of our current school values. This is an important part of our ongoing work to strengthen our whole-school approach to wellbeing, learning and behaviour through School-wide Positive Behaviour Support.

As part of this process, our staff have explored a range of values that reflect:

• behavioural expectations — how we want students to act and interact each day

• aspirational qualities — the kind of people we want our students to grow into

• learning dispositions — the habits and attitudes that help students engage, improve and succeed

Through this staff process, we have developed a shortlist of six values. We would now love our families to help us with the next step by sharing which values they believe are the best fit for our school community.

A key part of this review is ensuring that any values we select are not just words on a page. We want our values to be:

• easy for students to understand

• teachable across different school settings

• observable in everyday actions

• meaningful for our school community

This work is closely connected to our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) mission. In simple terms, our aim is to create safe, calm and predictable environments where expectations are clear, behaviour is explicitly taught, and all students feel included, supported and ready to learn.

Families can have their say by clicking the link below. You will be asked to enter your email address and rank the shortlisted values in order of preference. The form will allow one submission per person.

The six shortlisted values and their school context definitions are included in the form to help guide your decision.

We are also exploring meaningful ways to include student voice in this process, so that our students have the opportunity to contribute to the values that will help shape the culture of their school.

Thank you for taking the time to share your input. Our goal is to select values that genuinely reflect who we are at WNPS, how we want our school to feel, and the behaviours and learning habits we want to teach, practise and celebrate every day.
