Leadership Report

Term 2, Week 7
At Williamstown North Primary School, we are committed to maintaining a safe, positive, and respectful environment for every member of our school community.
Our teachers, administration staff, and support staff work hard each day to care for and educate our children. Like all members of our community, they deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect in all interactions — whether in person, over the phone, or via email and other digital communication platforms such as Compass.
We understand that school matters can sometimes feel urgent or stressful, we ask, however, that all interactions with staff remain respectful in tone and language.
In line with the Department of Education's Respectful Behaviours within the School Community policy, our school has the right — and responsibility — to act where conduct does not meet the standards in this policy.
We are always here to work through concerns together, and we encourage you to reach out to your child's classroom teacher or the admin team if you have questions. A respectful partnership between home and school is one of the greatest gifts we can give our students.
As you are aware, we have made changes to how and when we open and close the school gates. There have been multiple reasons for this change, including staff working hours as stipulated by the Victorian Government Schools Agreement (VGSA), supervision of students, damage to school property, and child safety requirements.
The school gates will be open by staff who commence yard duty at 8:35am, then closed and locked at 9:15 by our groundskeeper, Anton. They will remain closed until 3pm when Kerri opens them. The admin team will then close and lock the gates at 4pm.
If your child is arriving to school on a bike/scooter, there will be a member of the Wellbeing Leadership team on duty opening the gate at the back of the school to ensure students can safely walk their bikes into the shed.
If you need to reach your child/ren during the day, for whatever reason, please come to front office and one of our admin team will either call the classroom, or pass on any forgotten lunches, messages etc.
If you need to drop off your children before 8:35am or collect them after 3:30pm, please make arrangements with Outside Hours Care (OSH Club) on 0422 236 845.
We understand that this is a big change, and one that will take time to get used to, however, this change keeps our students safe and supervised within the school grounds, and brings us in line with Department of Education policy and the Victorian Government's Schools Agreement.
Thank you for your continued support of our staff and school community.
Kind regards,
Shevani Moodley - Deputy Principal
