Sports Report

In Week 4, the Intermediate Girls cricket team participated in the Eureka tournament in Ballarat. With a very inexperienced team, we first came up against Mt Clear College. Despite a great effort, some quick bowlers saw us bowled out for 31. Some great fielding efforts by the girls were a highlight of the match, however, Mt Clear chased down our score in 6 of the 10 available overs.

Our second and final game, showed incredible resilience and improvement from the girls. Up against a strong Phoenix College, Hazel Coleman dominated the batting innings, helped out by a cameo performance from Izzy Cahill, which saw us put a respectable 44 runs on the board. In the field, it was a full team effort, led by Izzy Cahill's spell of express pace, Skye Dridan’s fielding and Megan Fraser's bowling. We took 3 wickets in quick succession, however Phoenix had 2 balls to spare to reach a winning score, and despite our best efforts, they succeeded.

It was a great day of cricket in the sun. The girls showed great improvement in their skills and represented the school in a manner of which they should be proud.  A big thank you goes out to Miss Hughes for organising the day and Mr Severino for coaching.
