It is very important that students wear their sports uniform on their dedicated sports day and bring a drink bottle (or two on the hot days).

 

Sacred Heart Swimming Sports Years 4-6

The Sacred Heart Swimming sports will take place this Thursday 12th February at Blue Water Fitness Centre. All students from Years 4-6 have the opportunity to participate in this event. The swimming sports will start at 10:00am and finish at 1:00pm. Students will walk to Bluewater. We do need parent helpers on the day, so can you please indicate on PAM if you can assist.

A reminder to helpers, you must hold a current ‘Working With Children Check’ and the school office has sighted and entered your details.

Bus Costs for 2026

Due to the continued rising costs of bus hire, this year in 2026, any student who makes it through to a Greater Western or State event will be charged $10 to go towards the cost of the bus. Parents, Guardians, Grandparents etc who would like to go on the bus to any of these events will be charged a fee of $20. We thank you for your understanding with this matter.

 

2026 Team Vic State Team Trials 

Registrations are starting to open for any child (12 years and under) who would like to try out for the Victorian State Teams. The School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic representative program provides a development platform for Victorian students to challenge themselves against Australia’s best school aged athletes across numerous sports at the annual School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships. SSV coordinate the selection process for Team Vic teams in partnership with relevant state sporting organisations.

Please read the Team Vic Student Endorsement process for the following teams in 2026:

  • Australian Football 12 Years & Under Boys (Opens Friday 30th January and closes Monday 2nd  March 2026) – Greater Western Trial Date Thursday 26th March (Horsham)
  • Basketball 12 Years & Under Girls/Boys (Opens Friday 30th January and closes Monday 2nd  March 2026) - Greater Western Trial Date Friday 27th March (Ballarat)
  • Football (Soccer) 12 Years & Under Boys (Opens Friday 30th January and closes Monday 2nd  March 2026) -  Greater Western Trial Date Thursday 24th Aril (Ballarat)
  • Netball 12 Years & Under Girls (Opens Friday 30th January and closes Monday 2nd  March 2026) -  Greater Western Trial Date Monday 27th Aril (Ballarat)
  • Cricket 12 Years & Under Boys (Opens Friday 30th January and closes Monday 2nd  March 2026) - Greater Western Trial Date Thursday 26th March (Horsham)

 

Students are reminded that the skills required for these teams must be exceptional.  It is NOT a ‘Come and Try’ system. Students are required to check with the school principal or sports teacher for endorsement to go to the trials.

Colac Division Tennis Tournament

The Colac Division Primary Schools Tennis Tournament will take place on Thursday 19th February at the Elliminyt Tennis Courts. Students in Year 5 and 6 can trial for this event. Students must be able to serve consistently and have an understanding of the scoring of tennis. Students who are interested must place their name on the Sacred Heart Sports Notice Board (in the gym). 

The day (for the boys) will start at 9:00am and finish at 11.45am. The day (for the girls) will start at 12.00 noon and finish at approximately 2.45pm.

More information will go home to selected students.

Name: Lottie (Year 6JF)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are netball, basketball and dance.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is dance.

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in netball is WA, because you can get in front of your player and help your team. 

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I made it into the Irrewarra-Beeac netball team.

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? I have improved with my dance turns. In netball I am getting better at calling for the ball, and in basketball my shooting has become more accurate and I am getting more goals in.

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports teams are the Vixens netball team and the Geelong Cats.

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete I would pick Vixen netballer Zara Walters.

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is to listen to music.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am very kind and helpful and that I am a good sport.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who is fair, plays by the rules and never gives up.

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are football and basketball.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is football.

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in football is the forward line because I like to kick goals.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was kicking an epic goal in football.

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? I have improved with my tackling skills in football.

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is Esssendon.

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete I would pick Essendon footballer Luamon Lual.

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is to warm up with a run and to put some salt in my shoes.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I an energetic player and that I am a good player.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who always claps if their team or the opposition team gets a goal.

1. What sports do you play? The sport I play is tennis.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is tennis.

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite part of a tennis match is serving because I get to hit the tennis ball really hard, and I love it when I ‘ace’ my opponent.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I ‘aced’ a really good tennis player.

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? The skill I have improved the most in tennis is my serve. My serve has got stronger and faster and is more accurate.

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Geelong Cats.

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I could play sport with a famous athlete I would choose Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner who reached world No. 1 in 2024. 

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine before a game tennis is to get on the tennis court and warm up and practise my serve and my tennis strokes. 

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am an amazing tennis player and a superstar who tries very hard all the time.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sports person is someone who never gives up, they keep on trying. They also say “great job” and “bad luck”.
