Football

This week saw our keen Year 7 and 8 male footballers take to Pedrina Park in the annual GD Football round-robin competition. The young men, despite being undermanned and undersized, took to the ground in the first game of the day against Monivae College in windy but fine conditions. This proved to be a tough start against some strong opposition. A close second game against Portland SC ended in a thrilling draw. Our remaining games did not see the team record a victory, but some outstanding pressure acts and hunger for the ball ensured we were more than competitive. The major Goal kicker on the day was George Nicholls. Better players were Lucas Harper, Max Malseed, Archie Malseed, George Nicholls and Charlie Hindhaugh.

Well done to Miss Dixon for organising and running the day, to football captain George Austin for helping out with umpiring, and to my other helpers, Max St John, Will Legoe, and Jude Alexander.

Hockey

Division 1 Men

Last weekend, we performed much better and recorded a 2-0 victory over Couldabeens. Ciaran Nelson, with a neat finish, and Harry Brown, with a superb strike from a tight angle, scored our goals. 

Most pleasing was the much greater intensity with which we played the game. 

Our pre-game warm-up was a further positive - we looked much more like a team this week, and all players contributed in some way.

It is a start! We were not perfect, and we faced a good challenge this Friday. 

The same intensity and crisper early passes will be needed.

Division 1 Women

Friday night, College Women took on Demons, who, once again, put up a tough fight.

The strong wind and harsh rain made the pitch a tough environment for play, with the weather app saying, "feels like -2 degrees".

College Women won the game 12 - 0 and look forward to playing a number of their teachers in the Dunkled White team this Sunday.

Goal Scores were Chloe Headlam (2), Skye Headlam (1), Daisy Henry (1), Bels Little (2), Sophie Merrin (3) and Emma Robertson (3).
