Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grant

In 2024 Altona College received the Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grant to build an Altona Skipper Butterfly Stepping Stone project to help this endangered species. This term our 5/6 Garden gurus have been busy preparing and planting the site. They have weeding, transplanted soil to the site, planted, watered, mulched and protected the plants. They have done a fantastic job. Here is a look at their progress on the project.

Mother’s Day Stall

Our Mother’s Day Stall was a wonderful success, held yesterday with great excitement and care. It provided every student with the opportunity to select a special gift for the important women in their lives.

With a lovely range of items to choose from, it was heartening to witness the thought and effort students put into finding just the right present. The stall was filled with smiles, kind words, and moments of genuine appreciation. A big thank you to the volunteers who helped make the event possible.

We hope all our families enjoy a joyful and memorable Mother’s Day this Sunday!

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea

Our Primary students were delighted to host a Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea today.  Each family received a beautifully prepared treat box to enjoy together in celebration of this special occasion.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the talented parents and friends who generously shared their baking skills—your delicious contributions help make these cherished moments even more memorable.

Grade 1/2 Cherry Lake Tour With Conservation Park Ranger

As part of the year 1/2 Inquiry unit "My Environment – Conservation," students attended an exciting excursion to Cherry Lake. Guided by a Conservation Park Ranger, students explored the lake’s unique wetland environment and learned about its vital role in supporting biodiversity. The hands-on experience will help students understand the importance of protecting natural habitats and the ways we can all contribute to environmental conservation.
