Leadership Day

Last Friday, I spent the morning at Batesford working with our Class, House and School Captains on a leadership day. These students spent the whole day at Batesford and built on their leadership skills.  It was a great opportunity for our student leaders, who had been voted in by their peers, to spend the day reflecting on and developing their leadership skills. Throughout the day the students worked through a series of challenges and activities designed to draw on and develop their teamwork, communication and leadership skills.  They also spent time reflecting on great leaders within the school, community and the wider world, considering the traits these leaders possess and how they can utilise these qualities to represent and support their classmates. 

The newly elected Class Captains spent time working through initiatives that the previous Class Captains had initiated, such as the Eco Warrior Challenge.  They also developed a plan to build on this through the introduction of a ‘nude food’ challenge will be launched at assembly this week.  While the Class Captains worked through these projects, the House Captains workshopped ideas to increase house spirit across the school.

It was great to see the students, from all year levels working together and developing these skills.  Jake and Stewart did a fantastic job facilitating the day and I can assure the wider community that Rollins is in great hands with these leaders!

Book Week – Symphony of Stories

One of my favourite weeks of the year, Book Week, is coming up next week.  The theme this year is ‘Symphony of Stories’ and we look forward to celebrating the week with a number of fun activities planned. 

Of course, the week culminates in everybody’s favourite day in which we invite our students to dress up inspired by characters and stories that ignite their imagination.  We look forward to seeing everyone’s creative costumes next Friday the 28th of August, as well as welcoming families to our Family Picnic later that day.

Parent/Carer Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. 

The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Thursday 20 August to Friday 18 September 2026.

All parents / carers are invited to participate in this year’s survey. 

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / carers who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to the school directly for survey guides in your language if you require further support. Survey results will be communicated to parents / carers through annual reporting and in the school newsletter when available. Last year we used the survey results to plan our 2026 Annual Implementation Plan. Please speak to the administration team if you would like more information.
