Holiday Adventures: Learning Everywhere!

The school holidays are a wonderful time to relax, recharge and spend time together. Learning doesn't have to stop when school finishes, some of the best learning happens through everyday experiences!

Holiday Challenge: The Holiday Reporter

Ask your child to become a reporter during the holidays. Each day, have them tell you:

📰 Something they did

📰 Something they learned

📰 Something that surprised them

📰 Something they are grateful for

Encourage them to use as much detail as possible. Bonus points if they can write, draw or photograph their favourite holiday moment!

Conversation Starters

Try these at dinner, in the car or while out and about:

  • If you could visit anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go and why?
  • What was the best thing that happened today?
  • What is something you can do now that you couldn't do a year ago?
  • If you could invent something to help people, what would it be?

Maths in Real Life

While shopping, challenge your child to:

  • Estimate the total cost before reaching the checkout.
  • Find the cheapest item.
  • Compare prices between products.
  • Count how much change you would receive from $20.

Reading Tip

Read for just 10–15 minutes each day. Books, comics, recipes, magazines and instructions all count! Taking turns reading aloud can help build confidence and fluency.

Family Challenge

The Alphabet Adventure

Choose a category (animals, foods, places or movies) and see how many letters of the alphabet your family can complete. For example:

A – Ant

B – Bear

C – Cat

How far through the alphabet can your family get?

Have a safe, happy and fun-filled holiday break. We can't wait to hear about your adventures next term! 🌟
