GRANDPARENTS LITURGY
Grandparents: A Gift Across Generations
Grandparents hold a special place in the lives of children and families. They are storytellers, role models, and a source of unconditional love and wisdom. In our busy world, grandparents remind us of the value of connection and belonging. As a school community, we give thanks for the grandparents and grandparent figures who enrich our lives in so many meaningful ways.
Did You Know?
In the Catholic tradition, Jesus' grandparents were Saint Joachim and Saint Anne, the parents of Mary. Although they are not mentioned by name in the Bible, they are honoured as the grandparents of Jesus and are remembered for their faith and their important role in God's plan.
Grandparents Day Liturgy
We are looking forward to celebrating our grandparents and grandparent figures on Friday 23 October at 8:30am. Our celebration will begin with a special Grandparents Day Liturgy, followed by a morning tea generously supplied by our Kindergarten, Pre-Primary, Year 5 and Year 6 families. We welcome grandparents and grandparent figures to join us as we give thanks for the important role they play in the lives of our students and school community.
A Prayer for Our Grandparents
Loving God,
We thank You for the wonderful gift of grandparents and grandparent figures in our lives.
Thank You for their love, wisdom, patience, and care. Bless them with good health, happiness, and peace. May they know how much they are valued and appreciated by their families and our school community.
Help us to learn from their stories, cherish the time we spend together, and show them our gratitude through our words and actions. Like Saints Joachim and Anne, may all grandparents be strengthened in faith and continue to share Your love with future generations.
We also remember with love and gratitude the grandparents who are no longer with us. Hold them close in Your heavenly embrace and reward them for the love, guidance, and faith they shared during their lives. May they rest in Your eternal peace and continue to watch over their families with Your loving care.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
