Reflection

This coming Sunday, our Church community will celebrate a very special and joyous day in the liturgical calendar: the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord. Traditionally falling forty days after Easter Sunday, this feast marks a deeply significant moment in our faith journey.

The Ascension commemorates the day Jesus, after rising from the dead and spending time teaching and eating with His disciples, ascended bodily into Heaven to be with God the Father. It is a moment of both parting and profound promise. Before He left, Jesus gave His followers a very important mission, saying, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations." He also promised that He would not leave them alone, preparing their hearts for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

The story of the Ascension holds a wonderful lesson. It reminds us that while Jesus may not walk beside us in physical form, His presence remains with us always—in our hearts, in the Eucharist, and in the Holy Spirit.

The Ascension is also a call to action. Just as the disciples were tasked with sharing Jesus’ message of love, peace, and hope with the world, we too are called to be His hands and feet today, acting as missionaries of kindness and compassion in our everyday lives.

Prayer

Risen Lord,

You ascended into Heaven

but promised never to leave us.

Send Your Holy Spirit

to dwell in our hearts,

 giving us the courage to

share Your love

with the world today and always.

 Amen.

First Holy Communion

Angus, Campbell, Freddie, Jack and Thibaud had just begun their preparations to partake in the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time on Sunday, June 2nd, at St Patrick's Church. As these young individuals begin their exploration of the teachings and sacrifice of Jesus Christ through this sacred ritual, they have our thoughts and prayers.
