Dear Families,

It has been a very busy and exciting couple of weeks at St Therese’s, with our school community coming together for a wonderful range of learning experiences, celebrations and opportunities. The excitement continues this week with our Father’s Day celebrations, providing another opportunity for our students to celebrate and show appreciation for the important people in their lives.

These experiences are an integral part of how we engage our students, providing opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, build relationships, develop confidence, celebrate achievements and strengthen their sense of belonging to our community. None of these events happen without the time, energy and dedication of our wonderful staff and student leaders, and I would like to sincerely thank them for their commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to go above and beyond to make St Therese’s such a vibrant and wonderful school community. 

Confirmation 2026

We had 18 Year 6 candidates from St Therese's who participated in the Confirmation Retreat Day on Thursday 20th August at St Agatha's Parish. This was a wonderful opportunity for these students to prepare for their Sacrament of Confirmation which they celebrated on Sunday 30th August. Please see the Religious Education page of this newsletter for more information about the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Science Week 2026

Science Week 2026 was a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore and engage in the joy of science. This year's theme: Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all, challenged us to consider how scientific questions can evolve into discoveries. Our Foundation students were 'wowed' by fireworks in a jar, our Juniors watched in awe as their seeds sprouted in ziplock bags on their classroom windows, our Middles were excited as they observed Elephant Toothpaste rapidly overflow from water bottles and our Seniors engaged in seed dispersal design challenges. 

Book Week 2026

Book Week 2026 was a very busy week full of fun and learning, all centred around this year's theme: A Symphony of Stories. Our students participated in classroom experiences throughout the week including our Juniors who designed their own book cover and our Middles who enjoyed chocolate cake as they reflected on their Term 3 Novel Study of Matilda by Roald Dahl. Our Senior students shared their 'My Place' books with their buddies and our Foundation students celebrated Milo's Birthday!

In addition to these classroom experiences, we celebrated Grandparents' day with a prayer service and invited them to spoil their grandkids at the Book Fair. We also had our annual Book Character Dress Up Day which saw so many creative costumes to celebrate our love of books.

Middles excursion to Coal Creek

On Tuesday 25th August our Middles students embarked on an adventure to Coal Creek Community Park and Museum. It was a fabulous day that provided the opportunity for students to step back in time, experiencing home and school life from the 1870s to 1920s. A highlight for many of the students was attending a school lesson and writing on slate and with inkwells. 

PJ Day supporting the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal

Our Year 6 Social Justice Leaders worked alongside Mr Sempio to organise a school fundraiser for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. $282.50 was raised through our PJ Day which will help St Vincent de Paul to provide emergency relief, food, and housing support for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and poverty during the colder months. We thank you for your support of this great cause.

Swimming

Our Year 3-6 students have now completed their 8 day intensive swim program at Casey RACE and our Foundation - Year 2 students commenced their swimming lessons last week at Paul Saddler Swimland. Both programs have been a great success and we thank the staff who have supported the implementation of these programs.

Father's Day Celebrations

Today we are hosting our annual Father's Day Breakfast from 7:15am - 8:30am. Our Father's Day Prayer Service will follow, commencing at 9am in the school hall. We are looking forward to sharing these special events with our students and their families.

Enrolments 2027 

Foundation enrolments for 2027 have now closed. Families who still wish to enrol their child are welcome to submit an Expression of Interest; however, please note that a waitlist is currently in operation.

Limited places are available in Grades 1 to 6 for 2027. Families seeking enrolment in these year levels are encouraged to contact the school office or complete an online enrolment application.

As we approach the conclusion of Term 3, I would like to acknowledge the continued energy and enthusiasm across our school community, with plenty still happening over the coming weeks as we make the most of the remainder of the term.
